Little Yosemite
The Sunol Regional Wilderness park offers many different hikes, but I propose that you visit one area: Little Yosemite.
It got its name because it has a gray rock formation that resembles those found in Yosemite.

It is only an hour drive from Stanford, and it is an ideal place to spend the day in nature if you need a break from the fast-paced life of Silicon Valley.

Little Yosemite also has a nice river.
You take The Canyon View Trail through forests and plains with cows to reach Little Yosemite.
This enjoyable hike is a 4.8-mile/8km loop with a 527ft/200m gain in elevation, and there are some great views along the way.
