Mont Diablo

Mount Diablo is a mountain that is a 1h30m drive from Stanford.

It is not the highest mountain in the bay, but because it is surrounded by a flat valley, you have an exceptional view from every direction once you reach the summit.

On clear days, you can see San Francisco to the west, Yosemite to the east, and even Lassen Peak, which is 181 miles north of Mount Diablo.

The best clear views occur after storms, because the rain cleans the pollutants from the air.

This mountain has a road to the summit, so you can reach the peak by car or bike, or you can hike to the top by trail.

For hiking, there are multiple trails with different durations and elevations.

Here is a map to help you choose between all of the different options.
